HOW TO PLAY Use the panel to set up your catapult. You can buy many things from El Pavo Paco, but the only thing that you must buy is a Ticket. Without a 'Ticket to Ride', Paco will not release the drop-weight onto the catapult. Once you have purchased a ticket and setup your catapult, click the 'Drop' button to release the drop-weight. HOW TO WIN You must successfully cross into the promised land 10 times to earn sanctuary there. Each time you successfully cross the border, you go in, earn money working jobs, making contacts, and establishing a life there. Those details are not important to the game, which has the simple goal of trying to get as far across the border as possible on each vault. BACKGROUND Paco is a turkey-vulture affectionately known as El Pavo (The Turkey) to his kindred desert creatures. Paco is a rather sly bandito who travels between the border towns helping others to vault over the fence into the promised land. He knows that the many desert creatures are different sizes and weights, so carries many drop-weights with him. He also carries certain aids and tools to help increase your chances of a successful vault, but it will cost you. HINTS AND TIPS To operate the catapult, there are a few fundamental things you need to understand. First, just like children on a see-saw, the side that is heavier will fall to the ground. But, the farther away from the center one side is, the more it increases it's effective weight against the other side. If you move your character toward the edge of the catapult, it travels at a greater speed because it is farther away from the axis of rotation, but if the counter weight isn't heavy enough, then you also risk slowing down the catapult, and even throwing it out of balance. Thus, it is beneficial to move the counterweight as far toward it's edge as possible. Take some time and experiment, and soon you should grow more accustomed to the physics of the catapult. Paco's Store: El Pavo Paco is a magic bird. He can transform you to an incarnation of a different desert creature! So, if you came to him as a Rocoto Pepper, for a price, he can perform a spell and change you into a cactus, tumbleweed, armadillo, or even a desert snake. Paco also has heavier objects on his wagon. For a fee, he can rig up some heavier items to drop onto your catapult. If you have the money, Paco can also sell you some items that will help you on your dangerous trip. He has several types of rockets that you can strap on to help ensure that you cross the border. Some rockets are equiped to fire as soon as you are vaulted. Other rockets will fire when you start them yourself. Because there are dastardly folk trying to stop you from crossing the border who planted land-mines under the desert sand, it might help you to buy one of Paco's pulse-detonators. When used, it will send out an invisible shock wave pulse that sets off any land mines in your area. Of course, you were made for bouncing, and because of your durability, landing on one of those land mines isn't enough to kill you. But they can take their toll on you. |
